RESPONSIBILITIES

The core mandate and responsibilities of the research department are, but not limited to:

1. Providing integrated support services to County Assembly in terms of effective planning, policy analysis, research and innovation;

2. Providing advise on formulation, interpretation and application of research policies, procedures, rules and regulations;

3. Building and providing analytical research services to the county Assembly committees;

4. Spearheading the development of departmental work plans and their effective implementation;

5. Analyzing policy recommendations from various departments/committees for inclusion in annual management reports;

6. Monitoring and evaluation of all activities of the county Assembly 7. Any other duties as may be assigned by the clerk/supervisor.

DEPARTMENTAL ACHIEVEMENTS

The County Assembly as has created a viable operational structure for research with enhanced capacity for anticipatory research work and publishing of research output. The County Assembly has already started mainstreaming output from research as a basis for decision making. Researchers are constantly engaged in all committee work. There is a strong network with national, regional and international research institutions. Within the short time this Assembly has been in existence, we have established, institutionalized and strengthened a knowledge and information management system.
